THE NOLA DANCE PROJECT is a pre-professional youth dance company that provides an opportunity and a safe space for its performers and choreographers to develop their personal creative process.

The youth dance company was founded in the Fall 2017, by  Artistic Director, Diana Madrigal Barnitz. It was her intention to give dancers in the New Orleans community a chance to share their passion for dance through movement, performances and  collaborations with not only other dancers but artists in other fields of the creative arts .Currently, NOLA Dance Project consists of 21 dancers between the ages of 7-18 years old.

Dance is by nature ephemeral, with each moment unfolding like a story.  Our mission is to INSPIRE CREATIVITY  by providing dancers, instructors, choreographers, etc with a place to work together  and create works of art. We BEGIN CONVERSATIONS with our audiences by performing around the community and allowing the performer and spectator to meet and talk. We  are committed to EDUCATING AND ENHANCING the local dance community by hosting world renowned teachers, choreographers and dancers to conduct master classes, lectures, and demonstrations which our open to the community.

Since its inception NOLA DANCE PROJECT along with its home studio , The Studio School of Dance have had the opportunity to host master teachers from a variety of dance genres  including Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Musical Theater.  It has provided families with the chance to enjoy  fun and unique experience by host is annual holiday Nutcracker Tea.  It has invited other small local dance companies to perform during its Spring Gala.

This season NOLA DANCE PROJECT is looking forward to expanding its outreach performance program as well as initiating it first official artist/ dancer collaboration that will ultimately conclude with the premier of new works performed by company members.
